10 Years of Mostelleria

We would like to sincerely thank you for all the wonderful congratulations on the 10th anniversary of the Mostelleria. The most beautiful gifts can't be wrapped in gift paper: good health, quality time with family and friends, enjoyment and happiness. These are values worth cherishing — ones that make our lives worth living. How wonderful that we get to share these moments with you.

We are especially delighted that — despite the current situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic — we were able to welcome so many friends, project partners and guests in person here at the Mostelleria to celebrate our 10th anniversary.

Cocktail Mostviertler Gruß (Destillerie Farthofer)

Recipe idea to recreate at home

Zwetschkentraum

Ingredients:

  • 750 g Bio plums

  • 250 g Bio flour

  • 250 g Bio sugar

  • 125 ml Bio rapeseed oil

  • 125 ml Bio milk

  • 5 Bio eggs

  • 50 ml Bio Edelbrand Alte Zwetschke

  • 1 sachet Bio vanilla sugar

  • 1/2 sachet Bio baking powder

Our plum dream is quick and easy to make: beat egg yolks with sugar and vanilla sugar until creamy, then mix in the flour with baking powder, oil and milk. Gently fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and pour into a greased baking tray or springform tin. Press stoned plums into the batter and bake for one hour at approx. 150 °C. Once cooled, decorate the plum dream with icing sugar and fresh plums.

Pure indulgence: Alte Zwetschke

To celebrate plum season, we're delighted to introduce our Bio Edelbrand "Alte Zwetsche" introduce. For this one, we hand-pick Mostviertler Hauszwetschken directly from the heart of the Mostviertels. Stones and stems are carefully removed to preserve the pure, intense plum flavour of our fruit brandy. The plum mash is fermented under controlled temperature conditions and, after distillation, is set to a cask strength of 60% vol. alcohol. This fruit brandy then rests and matures for at least one year in the Oak barrel.

The result speaks for itself: a harmonious and elegant nose, a delicate plum aroma, finely spiced wood notes of vanilla and gentle tobacco. On the palate, very juicy and elegant, refined plum fruit with a beautiful woody sweetness. A very long, spicy finish. An aroma best savoured neat – ideally at room temperature, between 18 and 20 °C.
