All about pears!
The Mostviertel is known as the largest contiguous perry pear tree region in Central Europe. Pomologists estimate that there are around 400 different perry pear varieties – most of them in the Mostviertel in Niederösterreich.

Recipe idea to recreate at home
Cocktail: Mosti-Man
Ingredients:
4 cl perry pear brandy (e.g. Gelbmoster Bio Edelbrand)
2 to 3 cl sugar syrup
2 cl lemon juice
125 ml soda water
4 cl pear juice (e.g. from Hechal)
Garnish: pear slice
The Mosti-Man is quick and easy to prepare: pour all the ingredients over ice into a glass, stir, and garnish with a pear slice. We wish you great success and would love it if you sent us a photo at office@destilliere-farthofer.at or, for example, via Instagram Story!

Juicy Pear Cake
8 pears
4 eggs
150 g ground walnuts
250 g butter
220 g sugar
350 g flour
2 cl pear fruit brandy (e.g. Bio Edelbrand Kongressbirne)
1/2 packet baking powder and 1 packet vanilla sugar
5 tbsp lemon juice and a pinch of salt
Peel the pears, remove the cores, cut into slices and drizzle with lemon juice and fruit brandy. Cream the butter with sugar, vanilla sugar and salt, then fold in the eggs. Add the sifted flour and baking powder and stir in the ground walnuts. Pour the batter into a springform tin and arrange the drained pear slices on top of the dough. Bake for approx. 30 minutes at 180 °C top and bottom heat, dust with icing sugar and enjoy.
